Energy-saving and energy-efficient operations have risen to the general consciousness as an important factor in combating climate change. A significant factor in addition to environmental protection, from the standpoint of companies and private individuals, is the financial savings achievable through frequency variation. It is often perceived that subsequently taken measures for the improvement of energy efficiency are costly and awkward to implement. This need not be! edec Development's solutions capitalise on exploiting the use of renewable energy and, for example, waste-energy.
When commissioned to review a ship's energy efficiency for our customers, we analyse the vessel's energy production and the corresponding energy consumption and its distribution to different areas. Even though the focus is on electrical systems, other significant energy-using areas are also inspected, such as heating. As part of the review, we will compose a report on different areas for improvement - we can justifiably claim that there can almost always be found in a ship a number of systems, whether power generating or power consuming, for which we can achieve savings. On the grounds of the report, we will propose operational measures through which energy savings can be realised. At the same time, we will produce for our customers an initial investment budget for the outlay, the typical return on investment time being 1-2 years.
