PPMS - Propulsion Power Management System

A modern ship often uses so called electric diesel propulsion. This means that the ship's generators, powered by diesel engines produce electricity to the power grid and the pod propeller's engines use it. These propulsion lines are usually the largest consumers of electricity in ships. Since the electrical network is designed to match the consumption of energy, it can easily be disturbed. When the load is high and rapid changes take place, or the power plant operation is disturbed, a need for a mechanism to guarantee the security of electricity in the different systems arises.
